SYNOPSIS:
Set against the pulse of downtown Manhattan’s bike messenger era, the musical follows Bobby (*Elizabeth Barkan), a female bike messenger and fearless rider who suffers a life-changing trauma after she inadvertently causes the tragic death of a young girl. Twenty years later she is still unable to get back on her bike. Retreating to her family-owned bike shop, she works alongside her Vietnam vet father, and aunt, (*Madeleine Doherty), as well as, her uncle (*Joe Symon) who is a quirky fitness instructor/rabbi. As she’s healing from trauma, Bobby fixes and restores other people’s bikes as penance, all while turning away from her own bike still mounted on the wall. An old love interest, Frank (*Jim Newman) a military veteran, comes into the store 20 years after being away.
